Facial and Skin Care Curriculum
Professionalism - 8 Hours
Career opportunities, personal and professional hygiene, good human relations, attitude, and ethics.
History - 4 Hours
Cosmetics and practices used by earlier cultures.
Infection Control and HIV - 16 Hours
Bacteriology, skin conditions, lesions and disorders of the skin, removing blackheads and whiteheads.
Anatomy and Physiology - 16 Hours
Cells, tissues, organs, circulatory system, muscle and skeletal system, and effects of the skin during skin treatments, structure, composition and function of the skin.
Disorders of the Skin - 16 Hours
Dermatology, skin conditions, lesions and disorders of the skin removing blackheads and whiteheads.
Ingredient and Product Analysis - 8 Hours
Chemistry, product forms and ingredients, labeling, cosmetic safety.
Nutrition - 8 Hours
Nutrition and healthy skin, allergies, vitamins.
Client Consultation - 8 Hours
Skin analysis and interviewing clients.
Client Preparation - 8 Hours
Gathering a history and making a client feel comfortable.
Skin Cleansing - 16 Hours
Draping, application and removal of cleansing creams.
Techniques of Massage - 24 Hours
Types and procedures of massage for the face and neck.
Mask Therapy - 8 Hours
Commercial and custom masks, wax treatments.
Facial Treatments - 32 Hours
Towel and machine treatments, electricity, vapor and other apparatus for skin care.
Hair Removal - 8 Hours
Electrolysis, tweezing, chemical depilatories, wax.
Male Skin Grooming - 4 Hours
Facial needs and differences, products and regimens.
Other Therapies - 16 Hours
Enemies of the skin, aromatherapy, herbs, plants, teas, flowers, fruits, advanced techniques.
Makeup Techniques - 16 Hours
Color, theory, application of makeup.
Florida Law - 4 Hours
Salon, school, licensing laws and fees.
Clinical Practice - 40 Hours
Salon management, salesmanship and supervised clinical practice.

Graduation Requirements
Upon completion of 260 hours with a GPA of 75% or higher, the school will issue a diploma to the successful graduate. Testing will be conducted frequently throughout the course. Students will be evaluated at mid-term and at the completion of the program, and will be given a copy of the final evaluation at the end of the program.
A Certificate of Competition is presented to the student who has:
1. Successfully competed all required programs.
2. Attended all classes.
3. Paid tuition in full.
4. Passed all final exams.
5. Complied with the rules and regulations. |
