Massage Therapy Curriculum
Massage Therapy - 225 Hours
The comprehensive theory, ethics, medical errors prevention, practice and history of modern massage, including hands-on training of massage therapy/bodywork techniques with the intention of positively affecting the health and well-being of the client.
Anatomy and Physiology - 150 hours
Anatomy and Physiology include the study of the structure and function of the human body and the anatomy of movement from a whole-systems approach with emphasis on the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, endocrine, lymph, and nervous systems. Metabolism and nutrition is studied in conjunction with the digestive system. Pathology and Eastern Medicine, or the Five Elements, balances the learning modules.
Hydrotherapy - 15 hours
Hydrotherapy is the study of the scientific application of water in the form of solid, liquid and vapor as an effective therapy to enhance the immune system and promote relaxation.
Allied Modalities - 97 hours
Allied Modalities enhance the basic massage therapy training introducing the student to the field of massage and its various aspects. Students are introduced to: Acupressure, Shiatsu, Aromatherapy, Chair Massage, Craniosacral, Energy Work, Lymphatic Drainage, Myofascial Release, Polarity, Pregnancy Massage, Reflexology, Reiki, Spa Treatments, Sports Massage, Stretching, Therapeutic Touch as well as other modalities.
Florida Massage Law - 10 hours
Florida Massage Law class introduces the students to the Laws and Rules for operating a massage establishment according to the Florida Massage Practice Act. Chapters 480, Florida Statutes and Rule Chapter 64B7, Florida Administrative Code will be reviewed.
AIDS/HIV - 4 hours
AIDS/HIV class satisfies the Board of Massage requirements for application for licensure and informs the students of the current information about AIDS/HIV and its prevention.
• Student Clinic - 39 hours
Student Clinic gives the students the opportunity to practice with instructor supervision on clients.
Graduation Requirements
Upon completion of 540 hours with a GPA of 75% or higher, the school will issue a Certificate of Completion to the successful student. Exams and quizzes will be administered frequently throughout the course. Students will be evaluated at mid-term and at the end of the course.
A Certificate of Competition is presented to the student who has:
1. Completed, with success, the required courses in the Massage Therapy Program.
2. Attendance of 540 hours of class.
3. Tuition paid in full.
4. Examinations successfully passed. |
